Responsibilities

• Conducting rounds and evaluating care needs and services rendered
• Developing care plans and educating on health care principles
• Administering medications, including narcotics
• Delivering direct nursing care as needed
• Performing specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy
• Organize and lead the 'code blue' team
• Supervise health care staff including hospital aides and licensed practical nurses assigned to the area
• Act as lead nurse during assigned shifts in the absence of higher-level nursing staff
• Assist physicians with diagnostic health evaluations
