Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Registered Nurse to care for individuals with medical and behavioral needs at SCI Cambridge Springs. You will support daily health operations, administer medications, and help ensure safe, respectful treatment in a secure environment.

This role requires active PA RN licensure, completion of required training, and ability to perform essential duties across three shifts in a 40-hour week schedule. CJIS background and residency are governed by state policy.

Qualifications

• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Active temporary practice permit holders must obtain RN licensure within 1 year as defined by the PA State Board of Nursing.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
• Within 60 days of graduation you may apply; must show PA temporary practice permit or RN license at appointment.
• Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and CJIS compliance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in a correctional setting, including assessments, medication administration, emergency response, and documentation.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, assist with activities of daily living.
• Evaluate patient conditions and support physicians during examinations.
• Provide first aid, CPR, and other care in urgent medical situations.
• Update medical files, prepare reports, and maintain logs for controlled substances.
• Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and support treatment area readiness.
• Share medical information with custody staff and assist with shift reports.
