Qualifications

• Eighteen months of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work is required.
• Certification by the SCDC Training Academy is required and basic supervisory training within six months.

Responsibilities

• Engage applicants quickly and explain role and hiring process.
• Screen applications for minimum qualifications and guide through steps.
• Conduct interviews and coordinate with the Warden.
• Manage pre-employment requirements including testing, background checks, and medical screenings.
• Oversee new-hire orientation, equipment issuance, and initial job shadowing.
• Track applicant progress, maintain records, and report recruitment trends.
• Coordinate with HR, training staff, and leadership to support staffing needs.
• Complete eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
