Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing seeks a Physician Assistant for a corrections travel assignment. The PA provides medical services under a physician, documents inmate data, and conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in a correctional setting. Duties include primary care, minor procedures, and referrals.

Requirements include state PA license, BCLS, ACLS/PALS as per contract, and at least 1 year of PA experience; correctional experience preferred. Travel role with standard facility settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Science field preferred; may be required by state regulations or contract specifications.
• Physician's Assistant license/registration in the practicing state.
• Certification as a Physician's Assistant (preferred; may be required by state regulations or contract specifications)
• One year of experience as a Physician's Assistant preferred; correctional experience preferred.
• BCLS, ACLS/PALS per state or contract requirements.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• TB questionnaire or PPD/chest x-ray as applicable.
• Current health certificate per contract or state regulation.
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services to incarcerated individuals under physician supervision.
• Document inmate patient data and conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Order and schedule laboratory studies and provide professional consultations/referrals.
• Offer direct inmate patient care in various specialties including primary care and minor procedures.

In the correctional setting, the Physician Assistantprovides direct inmate patient care services in a variety of specialtiesincluding primary care, diagnosing, treating common illnesses and performingminor procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
