Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Physician Assistant – Corrections to provide medical services to incarcerated individuals under the direction of a physician. Responsibilities include data collection, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering labs, and coordinating referrals.

The role supports primary care and other specialties in a correctional setting, delivering direct inmate patient care with adherence to applicable regulations and standards.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Science field preferred.
• PA license/registration in practicing state required.
• NCCPA certification preferred but may be required by state or contract.
• One year PA experience strongly preferred.
• One year correctional experience preferred.
• BCLS certification required.
• ACLS/PALS per state or contract requirements.
• Complies with relevant standards of practice.
• TB screening or chest X-ray if applicable.
• Health certificate current per contract or state regulation.

Descripción del empleo

The Physician Assistant – Corrections provides medical services to incarcerated individuals under the direction of a physician; collects and documents inmate patient data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and provides professional consultations/referrals. In the correctional setting, the Physician Assistant provides direct inmate patient care services in a variety of specialties including primary care, diagnosing, treating common illnesses and performing minor procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Science field preferred, may be required by state regulations or contract specifications
• Physician's Assistant Certificate of Registration or License from the state Medical Board in practicing state
• Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred; may be required by state regulations or contract specifications
• One (1) year of experience as a Physician's Assistant strongly preferred
• 1 year of correctional experience preferred.
• BCLS certified required
• ACLS/PALS per state or contract requirements
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
