Job summary

Oregon Department of Corrections in Pendleton is seeking a Correctional Officer for Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution. The role includes training through the Basic Corrections Course, on-the-job practice, and a probationary period with university credit potential.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
21 years of age or older.
U.S. citizen.
Meet DPSST physical standards.
Reading comprehension, report writing, retention abilities.
Background investigation and NTN test requirements.
Strong integrity and ethics.
Substance abuse history disqualifying.
Proficient with computers and a valid driver's license.
Subject to drug testing per policy.

Responsibilities

Maintain order within the institution and enforce rules for safety and security.
Supervise and monitor adults in custody and work assignments.
Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband.
Observe and report safety, sanitary and fire hazards.
Support management’s goals and work as a team.
