Job summary

The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer for Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon. This entry-level role involves supporting safety and security of adults in custody while beginning with the Basic Corrections Course (BCC) and on-the-job training, with pay during training.

You will join a team dedicated to integrity, teamwork, and ongoing training; relocation assistance is available in some cases, and opportunities to advance across multiple Oregon

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Be 21 years of age or older
• United States citizen
• Meet DPSST Physical Standards
• Possess reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
• Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation OAR 259-008-0015

Responsibilities

• Work in a team setting to maintain order, enforce rules, and ensure safety and security.
• Help adults in custody be orderly and follow agency guidelines.
• Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband and enforce discipline.
• Attend Basic Corrections Course and receive on-the-job training with pay during training.
• Shifts and days off may be set after the probationary period per labor contracts.
