Job summary

Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer for the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton. This entry-level role includes training through the Basic Corrections Course and on-the-job learning, with a probationary period and potential relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21+ years old and a U.S. citizen.
• Meet DPSST physical standards; pass background checks.
• Strong reading, writing, and retention abilities.
• NTN test with 70% minimum; good work history; no substance abuse.
• Valid driver's license; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and safety; enforce rules within the institution.
• Assist in supervising adults in custody and conducting checks.
• Support training and participate in Field Training Program (FTEP).
• Participate in shift operations and adapt to bid-based scheduling.
• Complete required testing and adhere to labor contracts.
