Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a dedicated Corrections Officer to monitor inmate activity, enforce facility rules, and support safety across shifts. Roles include reporting, counts, searches, and escorting inmates during activities.

On-the-job training is provided during an 18-month probationary period. Positions are full-time, non-exempt with 80 hours bi-weekly, and come with comprehensive benefits and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision and control over inmates.
• Submit written reports of violations or irregularities.
• Maintain regular counts of inmate population and perform searches to control contraband.
• Conduct frequent security checks to ensure safety and security.
• Escort inmates to activities and enforce safety.
• Process incarcerates and maintain inmate property.
