Job summary

The Michigan Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional to join a multidisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include mental health evaluations, referrals, and ensuring continuity of care for mentally ill prisoners across hospital, medical, and special populations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mental health counseling and individual/group therapy.
• Knowledge of mental health assessments and interpretation.
• Ability to communicate effectively written and verbally; experience presenting to groups.
• Knowledge of crisis evaluation and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health evaluations and determine level of care.
• Refer prisoners to appropriate mental health services and ensure continuity of care.
• Provide psychosocial assessments, interventions, and referrals as assigned.
• Assist with placement and services when prisoners discharge to the community.
