Job summary

The Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) is part of a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services to inmates at the Michigan Department of Corrections. You will evaluate, treat, and coordinate care for mentally ill or disabled populations within prisons, ensuring continuity of care during discharge to the community.

Requirements include a Michigan license in the applicable QMHP field and the ability to testify in court or administrative hearings when required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
• Knowledge of mental health counseling, individual and group therapy, and psycho-educational treatments.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships and apply treatment methods within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health evaluations and provide QMHP services to prisoners.
• Refer to appropriate level of care and coordinate treatment with the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain records and prepare reports; participate in care planning and discharge processes.
