Job summary

NaphCare is hiring an experienced Mental Health Director to lead the Mobile County Metro Jail's mental health services in Mobile, Alabama. This role blends clinical expertise with facility leadership to provide high-quality behavioral healthcare.

Independent Alabama licensure (LICSW, LPC, LMFT or equivalent) with a Master’s in counseling, social work, or psychology is required, plus a minimum of three years’ clinical experience and leadership experience in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Master's prepared degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field.
• Active, unrestricted clinical license in Alabama (LICSW, LPC, LMFT or equivalent).
• Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in mental health or acute care.
• Leadership/management experience; correctional health care preferred.
• Knowledge of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mental health programs and services.
• Coordinate and participate in clinical training for patients.
• Perform and document patient mental health evaluations and records.
• Facilitate admissions, discharges, housing changes, crisis interventions.
• Apply DSM-V criteria in evaluations and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and staff.
• Manage mental health staff recruitment, training, and onboarding.
• Develop and manage program budgets and resource use.
• Respond to mental health crises and provide stabilization.
• Ensure compliance with ACA, NCCHC and facility policies.
