Job summary

The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to join a multi-disciplinary treatment team within the Macomb Correctional Facility. You will perform mental health evaluations, provide psychosocial assessments, and coordinate referrals to appropriate levels of care.

Responsibilities include monitoring prisoner progress, ensuring continuity of care, and assisting with discharge planning to the community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, social work or counseling.
• Possession of a Michigan license to practice the QMHP field is required.
• Knowledge of mental health counseling and assessments.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships and provide therapy.

Responsibilities

• Perform mental health evaluations, referrals to appropriate care, monitor progress and ensure continuity of care.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and interventions as assigned by supervisor.
• Provide testimony in court and administrative hearings when required.
• Maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence.
