Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Beaumont, TX to provide direct nursing care in a correctional setting. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for an assigned patient group, administering medications and following the physician's orders.

Requirements include graduation from an LVN program, Texas LVN license, and current BLS-HP certification. Recent graduates with temporary permits are welcome to apply; salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS-HP required.
• Will consider recent graduates with temporary permits.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Participates in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care given.
• Performs admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Reviews and, under supervision, modifies the plan of care.
• Observes and records signs, symptoms, and behaviors and proposes revisions to interventions.
• Delivers nursing interventions per the state medical plan of care.
• Notifies staff of changes in patient status and follows multidisciplinary plans.
• Follows physician's orders in delivering care.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
• Administers medications and treatments safely.
• Executes physician orders for assigned patients.
• Assembles equipment for procedures and assists with treatments.
• Adheres to infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Documents nursing care in patient records.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures.
