Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Graceville Correctional Facility in Graceville, FL, seeking an investigator to validate gang members, train staff on report writing, and ensure ACA, FDOC, and DMS standards are met. The role involves supervising searches, analyzing data, and coordinating with law enforcement to maintain facility security.

The position requires a high school diploma, two years in correctional settings, and preferred supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in an adult correctional environment or related field.
• One year prior investigations experience desired.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer software applications, narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, report writing, and gang related information.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with staff on the receipt and analysis of gang information.
• Supervise and direct searches for contraband including “pat” and “strip” searches.
• Monitor Inmate files for investigative purposes.
• Compile and analyze data to prepare reports and maintain related records.
• Respond to emergencies and institution disturbances including climbing stairs, steps, and ladders while searching for escaped offenders, hearing calls for and calling for help, giving first aid at the emergency site, carrying an injured or unconscious offender or employee various distances to safety up or down stairs, steps, and ladders; and use force and deadly force to include the use of chemical agents and firearms in accordance with company policies and agency regulations.
• Supervise and conduct in-depth investigations of incidents which involve criminal activity within the facility. Establish rapport with federal, state, and local law enforcement.
• Identify narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.
• Utilize proper search procedures to persons and property when checking for contraband items.
• Assess and evaluate the facility’s security requirements; make appropriate recommendations for improvements or modification to the warden.
• Oversee, gather evidence and testimony, establish case history of incidents and prepare comprehensive, timely, and efficient manner.
• It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
• Maintain accountability of staff, detainees, and property; adhere to safety practices.
