Job summary

The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking a Corrections Industries Coordinator 1 (CIC 1) to oversee daily manufacturing operations at the Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail in Grafton, WV.

Working under general supervision, this position manages the production of high-quality goods—specifically janitorial supplies, linens, and custom office chairs—while ensuring all items meet precise quality specifications.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
• Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience coordinating the shipping, delivery, distribution and/or manufacturing of goods and/or services.
• Experience substituting education: vocational training may substitute for one year of experience.
• Experience substituting with college courses: 30 semester hours equals one year of experience.
• Two years of Corrections experience at the level of a Correctional Officer 2 or higher may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily manufacturing operations and supervise inmate workers in safe production methods.
• Train, mentor, and supervise inmate workers while maintaining facility security, tool control, and safety protocols.
• Manage purchasing, shipping/receiving, material inventory, and routine preventive maintenance on shop equipment.
• Track inmate work hours for payroll and maintain operational reports.
• Foster positive relationships with state customers, vendors, and facility management.

The primary duty of this role involves training, mentoring, and supervising inmate workers in safe production methods, all while maintaining rigorous facility security, tool control, and safety protocols within the shop environment.

Beyond managing production line operations, the Corrections Industries Coordinator 1 (CIC 1) handles the administrative and operational logistics necessary to keep the facility running smoothly. Core responsibilities include managing purchasing, shipping and receiving, material inventory, and routine preventive maintenance on shop equipment. Additionally, this position tracks inmate work hours for payroll processing, maintains comprehensive operational reports, and fosters positive relationships with state customers, vendors, and facility management. This position will also perform other related administrative and operational duties as assigned.

*In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center) (SPB 3088)

*Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.

*If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.

Training

Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.

Experience

• Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience coordinating the shipping, delivery, distribution and/or manufacturing of goods and/or services.
• Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in the area of employment may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
• Additional training from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours for every one (1) year of experience.
• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience with Corrections at the level of a Correctional Officer 2 or higher may substitute for the required experience.
