Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Hospital Officer to supervise detainees in a hospital setting, maintaining custody and ensuring safety and protocol compliance during all shifts.

The role requires state licenses, corrections or law enforcement background, and the ability to handle physical and mental stress, with overtime and travel as needed. Join GEO Secured Services to support inmate care and secure transport operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Three years’ experience handling prisoners as a law enforcement officer, or in corrections, detention, or military police.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must possess a State Firearms License.
• Must possess a State Security Guard License.
• Must have completed an approved training program resulting in certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Ability to travel extended periods with frequent overnight stays.
• Ability to work overtime frequently.
• Ability to work up to sixteen hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
• Must be mature, flexible, and able to command respect and confidence of inmates, staff.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software used by the department.

Responsibilities

• The Hospital Officer maintains custody and control of detainees in the hospital at all times.
• Follows restraint protocols outlined in Medical Guarding Procedures.
• Ensures restraints do not interfere with medical procedures or harm the detainee.
• Positioning is kept within eyesight of the detainee.
• Detainees are not allowed outside visits unless contract or court requires.
• Detainees are not allowed to make telephone calls unless contract requires.
• Complete paperwork and reports accurately; submit to Transportation Supervisor per policy.
• Maintain a duty log detailing shift events; report unusual events to Supervisor.
• Ensure detainees are properly secured prior to leaving the hospital.
• Follow all safety measures including applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
