This position is responsible for menu planning and food service operations at Winnebago Correctional Center. Responsibilities include planning meals, procuring supplies, maintaining kitchen equipment, managing food inventory, and ensuring sanitation standards. It also involves providing orientation, instruction, and communication regarding dietary and menu changes to food service staff and Persons in our Care (PIOC) food service workers.
Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen near other staff and PIOC workers. The role requires lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs, sitting, standing, and possibly climbing ladders or stairs. Compliance with health policies, including Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination, is mandatory. The position may require working holidays, weekends, and other hours as needed.
The starting pay is $25.09/hour, within pay schedule and range 03-14. Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in food preparation and directing others, training or teaching skills, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. Well-qualified applicants will also have experience in inventory management and financial tasks such as cost control and procurement.
