Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Corrections Counselor 2 at SCI Greene to provide counseling, casework, and reentry planning for inmates. You will interview inmates, develop skills, and coordinate treatment, while maintaining records and preparing parole-related reports.

Position offers a 40-hour work week, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule, and a starting salary of $64,574.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Corrections Counselor 1 training or
• One year of professional counseling or casework in a correctional facility with a bachelor’s degree incl. 18 credits in relevant fields
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of counseling in corrections and 18 credits

Responsibilities

• Counsel inmates and provide guidance on adjustment, conflict resolution, and personal challenges
• Develop social, educational, and vocational skills for reentry to communities
• Maintain records and reports supporting coordinated inmate management
• Analyze tests and evaluations to determine programming needs and compile documentation
• Organize programming and services through a multidisciplinary approach
• Prepare parole reports and assist with identification and reintegration services
