Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Corrections Counselor 2 for the State Correctional Institution at Greene. The role focuses on counseling and casework to help inmates adjust and prepare for reintegration, coordinating treatment activities, and supporting behavioral change through a multidisciplinary approach.

You will interview inmates, help develop social and vocational skills, manage case documentation, and assist with reentry planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
• 1 year of professional counseling or casework in a correctional facility, or equivalent combination including 18 credits in related subjects.
• Successful completion of Corrections Counselor 1 training or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview inmates and provide guidance on adjustment, conflict resolution, and personal challenges.
• Assist inmates in developing social, educational, and vocational skills for reentry.
• Develop and maintain records and reports to support reintegration planning.
• Analyze tests and evaluations to determine programming needs and document results.
• Organize programming and services through a multidisciplinary approach to support behavioral change.
• Prepare parole reports and assist with reentry services to aid community reintegration.
