State of Nebraska Corrections is hiring a Corrections Corporal at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (Evergreen). The role involves monitoring inmates, enforcing facility rules, documenting behavior, and supporting security operations to maintain order and safety.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age and a high school education or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and ability to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmates/offenders in a wide variety of situations and activities.
• Enforces facility rules and regulations governing the conduct of inmates/offenders.
• Conducts and evaluates on-the-job training for newly assigned Corrections Officers, if applicable.
• Documents inmate/offender behavior, status and movement.
• Searches inmates'/offenders' person, quarters and work areas for contraband.
• Operates or monitors security equipment and maintains controlled movement of inmates/offenders, staff and the public.
• Responsible for inmate housing areas, sanitation, meals, laundry, inventory, etc.
• Maintains daily control documentation (logs, counts).
• May oversee visiting areas, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
• Transports or oversees transportation of inmates/offenders to the community.
• Assists supervisory staff in max security areas (segregation units).
• Recommends improvements to security procedures when appropriate.
