Job summary

The candidate will coordinate security operations, enforce rules, and contribute to policy development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification responsibilities, or law enforcement or security plus one of the following.
• High school diploma or GED; OR one year of experience in any field; OR six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.
• One year of this experience must have been in a role equivalent in scope to a Corrections Lieutenant in the State service.
• An applicant convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence or felony will be disqualified until relief is granted.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations within the assigned unit or area, ensuring a safe, secure, and orderly environment.
• Provides direct supervision, guidance, and performance oversight to correctional staff, promoting professionalism and accountability.
• Monitors inmate behavior, resolves conflicts, and enforces facility rules, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinates and leads emergency responses, critical incidents, and security operations.
• Conducts inspections, reviews reports, and implements corrective actions to maintain compliance with regulations and standards.
• Participates in policy development, planning, and continuous improvement to enhance safety and efficiency.
• Collaborates with leadership, staff, and external partners to support rehabilitation efforts.
