Allen Correctional Center is seeking a motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Corrections Lieutenant Colonel. This position is a key supervisory role responsible for directing overall institutional operations, supervising personnel, and enforcing safety and administrative standards. Leads daily facility operations, oversees shift coverage, manages post orders, and ensures overall operational readiness.

Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
  • One year of experience in any field; OR
  • Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.

One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
  • In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current driver's license.

Appointment Type: This is a promotional opportunity for current LA Department of Corrections employees who have permanent status and are ready to advance in their career.

DETAIL OF A permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

  • An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if a position becomes available.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $33.89 per hour.
