Job summary

Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Shift Supervisor to oversee security operations on a specified shift within a correctional facility. The role requires supervising staff, coordinating shift activities, and ensuring compliance with procedures and reports.

Ideal candidates will have five years of supervisory experience in a custody setting and be able to manage rosters, overtime, and disciplinary tracking.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of high school and an approved correctional officer trainee program.
• Requires five years of supervisory experience in a custody program.
• Prefers experience in a penal or security institution serving in a role equivalent to IDOC Correctional Sergeant or Lieutenant.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and directs a security force in housing and custodial services on an assigned shift.
• Serves as full-line supervisor.
• Coordinates security for vocational, education/treatment, activity-based programs.
• Receives, reviews and approves RostER Master sheets for shift assignments.
• Prepares and submits Wardens monthly activity reports and other required documents.
