Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Corrections Sergeant for the Plainfield Correctional Facility. You will oversee inmate movement, staff supervision, and safety, enforcing policy and procedures with firm, fair leadership.

The role emphasizes incident response, training, and performance evaluation to support rehabilitation and public safety. Applicants should have a HS diploma or equivalent, be willing to travel, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass drug tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is acceptable with 6+ months in corrections/law enforcement/military law enforcement.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass drug screenings.
• Experience in correctional setting preferred.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage offender movement and meal operations.
• Lead staff to maintain security of offenders, buildings and grounds.
• Escort offenders to locations for meals, medicine, work, and recreation.
• Review movements and rule violations; provide feedback to supervisors.
• Assist in security operations and staff training.
• Recruit, onboard and train employees; set expectations and evaluate performance.
• Ensure daily attendance at assigned worksite as required.
