Job summary

The State of Indiana invites applications for the role of Correctional Sergeant at Rockville Correctional Facility. You will oversee safety, security, and daily operations, guiding staff and ensuring compliant procedures in a maximum‑security setting.

Required are strong communication skills, ability to travel, a valid license, and readiness for mandatory training. A high school diploma or equivalent is acceptable with relevant corrections experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must test negative on drug screenings.
• Knowledge of correctional methods and procedures.
• Ability to work mandatory/voluntary overtime.
• Ability to supervise offenders and staff and achieve results.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage safety and movement of offenders and staff.
• Lead security and facility operations.
• Escort offenders to meals, work, and recreation areas.
• Review offender movements and rule compliance.
• Oversee security-related operations with supervisors.
• Train and develop staff; set expectations and provide feedback.
• Ensure compliance with emergency preparedness procedures.
