Job summary

Washington Corrections Center – Shelton, WA is seeking a permanent Corrections and Custody Officer 3 to supervise custody staff and manage inmate movements with emphasis on safety and security.

The role requires a strong background in corrections operations, training abilities, and the capacity to supervise, evaluate performance, and enforce policy across shifts in a high-security setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and three years as a Correctional Officer in adult corrections. (must meet above)
• Two years of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult corrections and 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of accredited college-level coursework.
• Corrections experience means working directly with incarcerated individuals most of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational supervision to custody staff and ensure secure and orderly management of incarcerated individuals.
• Supervise lower-level staff and direct activities and movements of inmates.
• Maintain surveillance and ensure safety of staff, inmates, and the public.
• Assist in training, mentoring and coaching staff.
• Direct inspections and searches of inmates, property, and living areas.
• Prepare infractions, logs, and other reports for accuracy.
