Qualifications

• Three years of experience in correctional or security work for a government agency or private corrections agency.
• Must meet statutory requirements: age 20+; 30 semester hours or high school diploma/GED with training.
• Subject to extensive background checks and physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise correctional security functions and activities.
• May serve as shift supervisor or chief of security in a smaller facility.
• Coordinate emergency response team training and activities.
• Conduct security procedures for inmate counts and searches for contraband.
• Prepare schedules and maintain records on staff and residents.
• Inspect staff for proper attire and fitness for duty; prepare administrative reports.
• Liaise with local law enforcement; facilitate court appearances.
• Participate in institutional policy development.
