Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking an armed correctional security guard in Charleston, SC to protect clients across government and other industries. You will perform patrols, monitor access, respond to incidents, and maintain detailed reports, while delivering professional service and maintaining a visible security presence.

The role requires an armed guard card/license, a driver’s license, and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license in the state where the job is located.
• At least one year of law enforcement experience, or at least three years of security-related experience.
• Armed guard card or license.
• Be at least 21 years old for armed roles.
• Background check as per federal/state/local laws.
• Criminal history may be considered in accordance with laws.
• Drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Industry-specific security training programs.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to facility staff, visitors, and authorized personnel while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access to assigned areas, verify credentials as required, and document visitor and contractor activity in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and public agencies as directed.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports of patrols, incidents, observations, and other security-related activities.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Possess at least one year of law enforcement experience, at least two years of security-related supervisor or manager experience, or at least three years of security-related experience.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security-related training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
