Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate patient care in the Jail South Tower. The RN uses the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care, ensuring smooth transitions and no preventable delays.

Interventions are delegated per the Texas Nursing Practice Act and patient needs. Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, current Texas RN license or compact license, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license or valid temporary permit with Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA / ARC / Military Training Network.
• Nine (9) months of professional nursing experience preferred.
• If less than 9 months RN experience, a Nurse residency is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care delivery using the Parkland nursing professional practice model.
• Assess the patient, identify nursing diagnoses, develop an individualized plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s response.
• Delegate interventions to health care personnel per the Texas Nursing Practice Act and patient condition.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient care records.
• Act as a patient advocate, respecting patient rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
