Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, TX is seeking a registered nurse to join our Jail North Tower unit on a full-time basis. You will coordinate patient care using the nursing process, assess patients, develop individualized plans, and evaluate responses to care, while ensuring safe transitions without delays.

The role requires current RN licensure in Texas, BLS certification, and the ability to work within the Parkland nursing professional practice model.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Nine (9) months of professional nursing experience preferred; nurse residency required if less than 9 months.
• Current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• Ability to provide care per the Texas Nursing Practice Act; excellent communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as patient advocate focusing on needs, rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
• Maintains positive relationships with Parkland staff and patients; serves as a resource for patient education.
• May participate in community outreach activities as assigned.
• Maintains knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, and equipment usage.
• Completes timely and accurate documentation in patient care records.
• Seeks direction from experienced staff and may guide non-nursing staff as needed.
• Collaborates with nursing and Parkland teams to support department mission.
