Job summary

MEDIKO in a correctional setting seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care, assess patients, administer medications, and respond to emergencies, aligning with facility policies and infection control standards.

You will document in EMR, collaborate with physicians, mental health staff and correctional officers, educate inmates, and may assume leadership in the absence of management; shifts include nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Current, valid state licensure to practice as RN in applicable state.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or related field preferred but not required.
• 1–3 years of healthcare experience, preferably in correctional healthcare.
• Active CPR/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care per established policies.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per physician orders.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and initial screenings for inmates.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with healthcare teams.
• Document patient assessments and treatments in EMR in accordance with policy.
