The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a Psychiatrist to work on-site at Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem (with potential duties at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville). The role requires providing psychiatric assessments and initiating/adjusting psychotropic medications for adults in custody, under medical board and ODOC policies.

The position emphasizes collaboration with QMHPs, NPs, and other physicians, with supervision by the Chief of Psychiatry and BHS management.

• Performs psychiatric assessments through direct observation, interviews, record review, and collates information from prior providers to establish diagnoses and acuity.
• Provides direct psychiatric services including psychotropic medication management and monitoring for side effects, using ODOC formulary and obtaining prior approvals for nonformulary meds.
• Maintains clinical documentation in the medical record, ensures informed consent for medications, and manages referrals and releases planning for continuity of care.
