What You’ll Do

• Provides patient care as directed.
• Documents patient‑related care timely within the electronic health record.
• Maintain patient medical records.
• Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified.
• Performs treatments.
• Assists with Doctor’s Sick Call.
• Assists with chronic care clinics management.
• Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities.
• Responds to emergencies and provides emergency care and collection of patient data.
• Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings.
• Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens.
• May perform venipuncture in order to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis.
• Prepares patients for release and/or transfer (i.e., Intra‑system, out to court) by reviewing patient care, completing Intra‑System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries.
• Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services.
• Participates in work‑related training and all institution training exercises as assigned.
• Provides assistance to other healthcare staff.
• Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern.
• Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s).
• Assists physicians with medical procedures.
• Assumes duties of other nurses during absences.
• Observes, documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel (i.e., nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, and/or patient care assistants).
• Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
• Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
• Assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Must work overtime as required.

Starting pay is approximately $58,000 based on shift assignments.

Requirements

• License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code.
• MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
• Experience in nursing practice and knowledge of medical procedures.
