Description of Work
Located in Black Mountain, NC, Western Correctional Center for Women is a minimum custody facility on a 100+ acre compound that can house up to 366 inmates. Reporting to the Associate Warden of Programs, this position is responsible for providing and supervising programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in the prison system. Responsibilities include:

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State Benefits.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade is NC08. Salary will be recalculated based on education, experience, funding, and internal equity, which may result in a pay increase.
About the NC Dept. Of Adult Correction: Responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced for violating laws in NC, including state prisons and community supervision divisions.
About Western Correctional Center for Women: Opened in 2008, housing approximately 360 female offenders, with renovations to provide educational and medical facilities. Renamed in 2021 to its current name.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies: Must document knowledge of supportive counseling and/or interviewing techniques, and knowledge of community services available to offenders.
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in human services or criminal justice and one year of related experience, or equivalent education/experience. Must be eligible for certification by NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards.
