Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is recruiting for the position of Correctional Plumber and Steamfitter. This full-time role requires at least three years of experience as a plumber and/or steamfitter. Licensure is not required to qualify.

The position may fill vacancies across multiple CT correctional facilities throughout the coming year. Typical duties include installing and maintaining potable and heating piping, steam distribution, and sanitary systems, supervising

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a plumber and/or steamfitter.
• Graduation from a vocational or technical school in the trade may be substituted for one year of General Experience.
• Preferred Qualifications include a P1 or P2 license.

Responsibilities

• Plans, lays out and schedules work.
• Instructs inmates in measuring, cutting, threading and installing pipes and fixtures.
• Maintains piping systems for steam, gas, water, air and pressure.
• Trains inmates to read blueprints and schematics.
• Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintains records and reports; supervises inmate workers.
• May respond to after-hour emergencies and operate a vehicle if needed.
