Job summary

DC Government, located within the DC Department of Corrections (DOC) Facilities Maintenance Division, seeks a skilled plumber to install, repair and maintain plumbing, hot water and sewage systems in a correctional environment. You will read blueprints, follow plans, and guide inmate workers while upholding strict safety standards.

Requirements include a valid Journeyman or Master Plumber license in DC and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.
• Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair.
• Ability to Interpret Instructions and Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
• Measurement and Layout.
• Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems per plans and specs.
• Review blueprints, drawings and work orders to guide tasks.
• Troubleshoot plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices.
• Supervise and train inmate workers; enforce safety.
