Job summary

The Oregon Department of Corrections is hiring a Correctional Officer for Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, Oregon. The role starts with on-the-job training after the Basic Corrections Course (BCC) and includes earning a paycheck during training.

No prior correctional experience is required, and relocation assistance may apply. New officers will undergo a probationary period with a seven-week academy and a comprehensive Field Training Evaluation Program.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• Be 21 years of age or older
• United States citizen
• Meet DPSST Physical Standards
• Possess reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
• Complete an ODOC background investigation (OAR 259-008-0015)

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and safety within the institution
• Enforce rules and provide care to adults in custody
• Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
• Observe, inspect, and report safety hazards
• Support and communicate with staff to meet agency goals
