Job summary

Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking entry level Correctional Officer positions in the Salem area. You will begin with the Basic Corrections Course (BCC) and training is on-the-job, so you start earning a paycheck during training.

Prior correctional experience is not required and the role emphasizes integrity, public safety, and helping others. During the probationary period you’ll complete the academy, classroom and online courses; shifts and days off vary by need.

• Ensure safety and security of adults in custody.
• Supervise work assignments and monitor activity for contraband.
• Conduct cell checks and searches as required.
• Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards.
