Qualifications

• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants on security posts and serves as initial commander in emergencies.
• Plans, organizes and coordinates shift activities and assigns posts; coordinates leave; ensures attendance reports.
• Coordinates training programs and conducts ongoing staff training in security procedures.
• Supervises searches for contraband and conducts inspections of buildings and grounds.
• Conducts crisis intervention and emergency response duties as required.
