Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Correctional Officers and Sergeants assigned to shifts.
• Serve as initial commander during emergencies and act as facility manager after hours.
• Plan, organize and coordinate post assignments and leave usage.
• Coordinate training programs and conduct performance evaluations.
• Oversee searches for contraband and inspect buildings for security.
