The Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer I to join the Buena Vista facilities. You will help maintain safety, security, and order inside a locked facility, monitor inmate movement, and enforce rules and procedures with professionalism.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, strong judgment, and the ability to work flexible shifts. The position offers statewide advancement opportunities and access to training programs within the CDOC system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or a GED certificate.
• Ability to read and comprehend the English language.
• Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security in the facilities.
• Monitor and control access to the facility and restricted areas.
• Operate a variety of mechanical doors, security devices, equipment and alarms.
• Escort and transport inmates in authorized state vehicles.
• Document incidents and communicate pertinent information to coworkers and supervisors.
