Job summary

The Maine Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer/Cook at Downeast Correctional Facility, Machiasport, ME. This role combines security with large-scale meal preparation, serving around 2,200 meals daily, with paid training and state certification.

Base pay ranges from $26.56 to $31.89 per hour (includes a $1 hourly stipend). No experience is required, but two years in food prep or related work is preferred, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED, etc.).
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Two years’ experience in food preparation, serving and/or cleanup is required.
• Background check is required with potential automatic disqualifiers listed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve approximately 2,200 meals per day.
• Monitor security of assigned areas and supervise residents in kitchen areas.
• Instruct and train residents in kitchen sanitation and basic food preparation and serving food.
• Follow safety standards and handle exposure to chemical agents as part of duties.
