An established industry player is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as jailers. This role involves supervising offenders, ensuring their safety, and maintaining discipline within the facility. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and ideally have some experience in a related field. GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs moderately complex work involving the care and custody of offenders. Work involves the direct supervision of offenders in their daily assigned duties including the responsibility of preventing escapes and maintaining discipline in conformance with strict rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Works under general supervision of a manager with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Perform other duties as assigned.

A probationary jailer works under the supervision of a jail administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Some knowledge of principles and practices of municipal jail operations. Moderate knowledge of general office equipment and clerical operations.
Skills
Uses logic and reasoning to analyze, understands and evaluate situations. Exercises appropriate judgment in establishing priorities. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary.
Abilities
Ability to assess and manage a schedule. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other departments, council members, executive staff, and the public. Ability to maintain complex logs, records, and files and prepare accurate and detailed documentation. Ability to effectively present information to management.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All Jailers must complete minimum requirements for specialized training within one year of hire.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, including word processor, spreadsheets, project management software, 10-key calculator, phone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, crawl, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Maintains security of assigned areas involving long periods of sitting and standing, climbing stairs and ladders to reach assigned areas.
