Job summary

State of West Virginia seeks a Booking Clerk to assist security staff with inmate intake and release within a secure facility. The role includes interpreting court orders, updating housing assignments, and maintaining the OIS system with current orders.

You will fingerprint and photograph inmates, and liaise with courts, prosecutors, and other agencies as needed. Includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, holidays and annual/sick leave.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in routine office work or customer-facing roles.
• Substitution: college hours or vocational training may substitute for required experience.
• Documentation such as transcripts or licenses must be attached to the application as specified by the agency.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing inmates for intake and release in a secure facility.
• Interpret and circulate court orders to relevant departments.
• Maintain the OIS system with current court orders and housing assignments.
• Assist with inmate identification, fingerprinting, and photographing.
• Coordinate with courts, law enforcement, and other agencies; communicate with the public.
