Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join our medical team at Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest, AL.

You will work in a secure environment alongside correctional officers and medical staff to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a range of conditions, including chronic illnesses. Duties include prescribing medications, responding to emergencies, and coordinating care for incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

• Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate).
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in AL.
• Current DEA registration.
• An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician.
• Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
• Board certification recognized by ABMS.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, safety standards, and applicable healthcare laws.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience in correctional or acute care settings is a plus.
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans and monitoring patients.
• Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
• Administering medications and providing patient instructions.
• Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and histories.
• Providing direct patient care, triage, assessing needs, and coordinating services.
• Responding to emergencies and ensuring timely transport to facilities.
• Educating patients on preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Adhering to facility security protocols while working with correctional staff.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and reporting relevant information.
• Conducting rounds and evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment.
• Admitting and discharging patients from the facility.
