Job summary

The role requires active SC medical licensure, internship/ residency completion, BLS, and prescriptive privileges. You will collaborate with nursing staff and participate in on-call coverage and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited medical school with licensure or eligibility to practice medicine in SC.
• Completion of an internship or one year residency is required.
• Current BLS certification and DEA registration are required.

Responsibilities

• Examines, diagnoses, and treats inmates with acute, chronic, and emergent medical conditions.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, imaging, and lab work.
• Develops and manages treatment plans and prescribes medications.
• Coordinates specialty referrals and off-site care when indicated.
• Collaborates with nursing staff, mid-level providers, and physicians.
• Attends staff meetings, case presentations and seminars.
• Oversees progress notes and medical record documentation.
• Participates in on-call rotation with after-hours and telephonic/virtual consultations.
• Ensures compliance with policies and state/federal regulations for medical services.
• Maintains licensure, certifications, and continuing medical education.
