Qualifications

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license in South Carolina (or eligibility).
• Board certification preferred; experience in correctional medicine or primary care is highly desirable.
• Comfort managing a broad scope of medical conditions in a high‑acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct medical care for incarcerated patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
• Oversee and guide evidence‑based clinical practices to ensure high standards of care and patient safety.
• Conduct intake evaluations, chronic care clinics, urgent/emergent assessments, and follow‑up care as needed.
• Review and implement clinical policies and protocols in line with correctional healthcare standards.
• Collaborate with detention center leadership, nursing, mental health, and ancillary services for integrated care.
• Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, and infection control initiatives.
