Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Correctional Major at Miami Correctional Facility to oversee facility security and lead custody teams. The role requires coordinating with non-custody staff and guiding a 24/7 operation, with emphasis on policy execution and staff development.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 5+ years in corrections or related fields, plus strong leadership and advisory skills in a complex, secure environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in a correctional institution, law enforcement, or military law enforcement.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with ability to supervise staff.
• Broad knowledge of correctional programs, security procedures, and ACA standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct custody staff to maintain security and safety of offenders, buildings, and grounds.
• Coordinate with non-custody staff to ensure 24/7 facility operation.
• Develop, revise, and implement custody/security policies and procedures.
• Recruit, onboard, and train employees; provide feedback and performance evaluation.
