Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a part-time Correctional LVN to provide direct patient care within the Wichita Falls Allred Unit. You will administer medications, perform health assessments, and support treatment plans in a secure correctional setting.

The role requires a Texas LVN license (or transfer), CPR certification, and NCLEX-PN on first attempt for new grads. Schedule is 7-7, rotating days with day/night shifts, in a 4-on/4-off pattern.

Qualifications

• Current Vocational Nurse License in Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
• Current CPR certification.
• Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the NCLEX-PN on the first attempt.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, perform assessments, and monitor patients’ health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans.
• Identify and report changes in patient conditions, contributing to problem identification and the development of patient care goals.
• Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures, examinations, and treatments.
• Accurately record patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Work closely with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment.
• Ensure compliance with all healthcare policies, safety standards, and regulations, including proper medication storage and direct observation protocols.
• Assist in medical emergencies, triage patients, and provide immediate care when necessary.
